I gave a rough account of the first vision was given yesterday in the tunnels of the Capitol Visitor Center. I must say, I am not very good at sharing what is so important to me because anytime someone asks me about what I believe, I get so excited that I tell unnecessary details and forget to really hit home to what the main point of the message is. However, hopefully this will start a little bit of curiousity to my fellow intern (the reciever of the account) and someone else later can do a better job teaching with the spirit. This is something I really need to work on.
It was an exciting moment though! And it all began when he asked if Mormon's celebrated Easter. 'Yes,' I replied. "We are Christian." He seemed suprised. About half an hour later he asked "So is Jesus Christ as big of a deal to you as he is to the Catholic church?"
(Mild mind cringe at that phrasing) But I was excited to tell him that yes! He is a very big deal to us. Only I think (or at least I hope) it was phrased it a bit better. Then followed the, "So then who is Joseph Smith?"
And that led into the discussion. It has been so good to be in D.C. among good people who know nothing about the gospel. I want to share it with them so badly because I realize more and more how much it could benefit their life. But for now I will share bit by bit.
It's like trying to only eat one nibble at a time of a chocolate chip cookie.
