The other life of an apostle - Meeting Elder Christofferson

On Friday my friend Marc took me to a fireside with Elder Christofferson, a member of the twelve apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which was absolutely amazing. There were only about 100 people in a small pink chapel (emphasis on the PINK chapel. It made it even better.) It was so interesting because it wasn't a fireside about the gospel - it was about Elder Christofferson's work as a lawyer. He was the lawyer that worked with the Judge Sirica during the Watergate trials. He and the judge were the only two who listened to the white house tapes. I was so touched at how dedicated he was to really finding justice, and how sad he was when he heard the evidence that Nixon tried to cover up any connection he had to Watergate because he wanted to believe the best about the President of the United States.

What I was most impressed by his account was how much good one can do in whatever field they choose to go into. Wherever you are, you should be an example of someone who loves and serves people by doing the best they can offer in your work.I like this. I like that I can try to make lives of those around me a better place no matter what occupation I have.

I also got to go shake his hand afterward and was so touched by his gentle mannerisms and how much interest he had in hearing what you had to say. It was a special night. I am grateful for the great example of leadership, hard work, humility, and love for all people and for God that Elder Christofferson offers.
