Sick

Today is a sick day - you know, fever, aches, the runs, vertigo, earaches, runny nose, 11 hours of constant eye watering, and a throat that feels like a carpenter sandpapered it for a few hours. But it has been made infinitely better by having mom take care of me.
She brought me juice.
She brought me medicine.
She cut up strawberries because they sounded so delicious. And they were.
She carried her phone around with her in case I needed something.
She came into my room to chat and bring me newspaper articles to read.
And she made me tapioca. Yum.

How strange it is that at 21 my mom and Dad are still taking care of me, and doing it happily. It's a lifelong service.
I want to be the mom who makes tapioca for my kids when they are sick.
And who lets my kids bite off the bottom of the cone.
