The second is Sister Rivera and I. She's really fun! And she goes home next Monday.
This is a cute little Christmas tree that was in the basement of our magical house and we decorated with everything we could find haha. Including plastic flowers, Sister White's earrings, and wax lips. {not sure where those came from}
Merry Christmas! What a fun time of year to be a missionary! I think this is my favorite season on my mission so far. People suddenly remember the Savior and open their hearts a little bit more.
We loved our week of almost full proselyting. We were able to meet with our progressing investigator every other day this week, and she is doing great. She is addicted to reading the Book of Mormon. Yea! We are working with her to help her understanding of it increase, and help her understand why Christ is our Savior. So is doing awesome! We are trying to teach her husband too, but I don't think he understands quite why he needs to learn this, because he already believes in Christ. Teaching him has also been slower because at one of our lessons this week he was very drunk. We taught only her obviously, but he remained in the room and commented on everything, including that he thought I should get fatter. It was funny/really sad/ sometimes a bit frightening. But The next time we went over he was back to his great self and doing better. I love this couple very much and love that we get to see them as often as we do! We will hopefully be able to set a baptismal date with them tonight.
We were talking to a man while tracting this week and after a minute of conversation with both Sister Rivera {notice english is her second language, and she pronounces the word public "pooblic"} and I {english is my only language} he looked at me and squinted his eyes and said "You have a funny accent. Where are you from?" So out of the two of us, I am the most foreign apparently.
Even though we were in our area fully every day this week except one, I'm not sure what to say. We did get to start reading the Book of Mormon with a great less active family, which we discovered was really important, because previously they had never read it and had no testimony of it. Even now it has started to work little miracles. They are reading it! Which is a big miracle!
We found out one of the less actives we are working with refers to herself as a mormon-catholic. That was weird. She is a bit confused about a lot of things, which we are excited to help her study out and clear up. Like her belief that Noah was a drunkard for example, and that prophets are always wicked people that God just makes use of.
We stopped by to talk to a woman that had been taught previously and she tried to back over us! haha that was exciting, and funny. I am glad Sister Rivera was a fast runner. We are yet to determine if it was intentional, but we did make eye contact and wave to her seconds before she put it in reverse...
Studying was so good this week. I have been reading specific chapters about the savior and it has helped me realize how shallow a relationship I have with him and how much more I want to know about and become like him. I have loved studying that. It has also helped me pray with more intent. I think that is why this week was such a good week for me. I finally feel at home in Waterloo, which I am so grateful for.
Well, life is good. What is the family doing for the holidays?

love,

p.s. In 5 seconds I can recall over 10 conversations I have had about potatoes this week. A man in our ward calls me potato lady. Congratulations Idaho, for being known only for potatoes. But people never fail to be interested in talking about it, so if it makes them happy it can make me be happy.
