Wow, thank you for the birthday cards and packages! What a happy surprise tuesday was when I went to transfer meeting and got my letters! It was a good memorable birthday trying to get to know Shortsville. It was a really long but great week. Two of the high lights were yesterday.
We went to teach a less active woman who had previously been on the Do Not Contact list, but was very open to us. We had decided to teach her about the restoration focusing on prophets and as we started talking to her and asking her questions about how she came to have a testimony as Joseph Smith as a prophet she said, "woah. Who called you?" We were confused and she explained that yesterday she had been talking to her good friend in Utah who was LDS and new members of the ward here and they had been discussing how she {the woman we were visiting} wasn't sure about a living day prophet. She was convinced someone had called us and told us to talk about it. I felt so grateful to know that the spirit had led us to teach exactly what she needed to hear. As we invited her to pray about the prophet and watch conference, she said, "well I will, but I take it you talking about this today is part of the answer to my prayer." That is a happy moment as a missionary!
Last night we had a Giant Family Home Evening at the Grandin building because March 26 is the anniversary of when the Book of Mormon went on sale. I got to lead tours through it as some of the senior couples were dressed up as those who worked in the print shop and told about what they did. We had hundreds come, and it was so great seeing people from the Pittsford ward, as well as some of those I worked with in Waterloo. I love these good people!
Saturdays we do service for the mother of one of the Elder's investigators. It was so fun. We cleaned out her horse stalls! I don't think I've ever had so much fun shoveling poop before. If only I had felt that way growing up I could have avoided many weeks of grounding... right dad? :)
oh! A girl in our ward knows Liz Valentine. She lived in Autumn winds when she was there. Stephanie Palmer I think is her name. And speaking of our ward... It is awesome! It's a very strong ward, and I love our ward mission and his family. They are so helpful. Grateful to be here.
And finally Conference! So excited! We will miss two sessions again this time, because we are working at the Smith farm, but I love conference, especially conference on the mission and look forward to it!
Love you all! Have fun in all the vacation and traveling that seems to be happening!
love,
Sister L
