Q: Tell about a time you met someone famous.
I was listening the woman gush about her recent sighting of Barak Obama as we made our way through the crowd into the old house of Representatives chamber in the U.S. capitol. It was another day at my internship, which included taking congressman's constituents on tours of the capitol.
Today I had an enthusiastic group, and I couldn't blame them - how many people run into the President of the United States on their first day of touring D.C.?
I was brought back to attention by the woman's question, "Do you think we'll see Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi since we're in the capitol?"
I laughed and replied maybe, but I had been in the capitol almost every weekday for two and a half months and the most famous person I had seen was Charlie Rangl in the midst of his publicized scandal. Goody. It was about two minutes after I said this that I cut off my 'from this spot you can whisper and hear it across the room' speech mid sentence as I looked up and saw Nancy Pelosi! She walked right past us followed by a very aggresive looking reporter.
Whether democrat of republican, it's not everyday that you are within five feet of the Speaker of the House. These people were clearly good luck as they informed me that they had shook hands with Bill Clinton in California a few years before and seen George Bush. What strange luck.
