I heard some very happy news on Thursday - my best friend Nicki had a sweet baby boy! He looks so precious and I am very happy for her and her husband.
It made me think about the many reasons Nicki will be a great mom, and also ponder on how fast things change. Nicki and I grew up together and it seems like we were playing poodles, sending secret letters to altoid-can mailboxes, making up words like chawaki, singing "My heart will Go On" in 'Chinese' (or at least our interpretation of Chinese) going to Brighton, and riding around on one roller blade with her brother. We proudly called ourselves the 3-leg/ged gang.
Nicki has always loved babies. Always. Often in high school on weekends I couldn't play with her because she was always babysitting. This is not an exaggeration. When Elaine & Warren lived by us we schemed about Elaine asking Nicki to babysit for h
er but not really need it so that I could do something with her.Babies also love Nicki. Actually, everyone loves Nicki, but babies especially. They sense her sweetness and flock to her. She probably has more younger-than-eight fans in her fan club than anyone else I know. She was also always great with her little brothers and sisters.
So this is a big CONGRATULATIONS to Nicki & Tyler! You guys are great, and I am so happy for you and thankful for the good memories! And also, sorry I didn't have a picture of the both of them so we could all admire how cute they are together... No pictures of them somehow did not make it onto my computer after it crashed.
Yay for Nicki! I can't believe she is a mama. She is lucky to have a friend like you.
