Favorite tradition for the most wonderful time of the year

I'm not sure where this tradition came from or when it started but my favorite Christmas tradition is making delicious gingerbread cookies. Then we lay out seran wrap in a long row, place the cookies face down, fold the sides of the seran wrap in, and tie in between each cookie. It makes it into a garland that we hang by our front door. Then, when anyone comes to the door during the Christmas season we cut off a cookie for them and they get a happy sweet treat. Oh I love this season!

Here is the gingerbread recipe we like to use:
Ingredients:
- 1 C. butter of margarine
- 1 C. packed brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/3 C. light molasses
- 1 Tbsp finely shredded orange peel
- 2 Tbsp orange juice
- 3 C. all-purpose flour
- 1 C. whole wheat flour
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 ground cloves

Instructions:

In a large mixer bowl beat butter or margarine with electric mixer on medium speed till softened. Ad the eff, light molasses, finely shredded orange peel, and orange juice. Beat well.

In a large mixing bowl stir together all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, cinnamon, ginger, baking soda, salt, and cloves. Stir into the butter mixture. Cover and chill in the refrigerator till firm enough to roll out.

Turn oven to 375. Divide dough. On lightly floured surface roll out other half so it's 1/4 inch thick. Cut with cookie cutters. Place 1 in. apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 8-10 minutes or until edges are firm.

p.s. make sure to lick the beater, because this dough is delicious!
