What is the most challenging church calling you have ever had?
Currently I am teaching Relief Society. When I got this calling I was Thrilled. No sarcasm. I got a huge smile on my face and told the second counselor in the bishopric that I would love to!And then he said no one had ever quite reacted like that.
In fact, this is the calling I have always wanted, and it has not disappointed. It terrifies me: teaching something that I am in no way the expert. It is hard getting up there. It is hard talking to people who stare at you with very serious faces or stare down at some paper they are doodling on. But….It is great! I love it because I study and study and study where otherwise I wouldn’t have. Then I go to Relief Society and teach and get taught and ask questions, which usually go something like this…
“Would anyone like to share an experience about a time they demonstrated faith?”
……………..(s…i…l…e…n….c….e……………………………………………………………………………………………….)……………………………………
That’s not really my favorite part. I’ve got a long way to go on my teaching skills.
