We got the good news yesterday that Sister Larsen and I are staying in Shortsville together for this next transfer! I am so grateful this is where I will get to end my mission, because I love this area. We also have a set of sisters moving in with us because they are opening a brand new area in our ward!!! We are so excited! It's Sister White - my good friend who I lived with in Fayette before and who was my comp. for a week during Christmas, and a new missionary who she will be training.
Hector came to church this week! And so did Barb, who is our
non investigator investigators. haha. She doesn't want us to come teach her
necessarily, but she has been coming to church and loving it for the past month
and a half and she loves us. We also found out she has started reading the Book
of Mormon! So next week we will invite her again if we can stop by and see her
and her husband. They are awesome.
Yesterday Sister Larsen and I finished the Book of Mormon
together. It was so good. We decided to start it again and try to read it in a
transfer. We'll see how it goes!
The sites were really busy this weekend, which was nice from
the lull we'd been having lately. One day when we were at the sites we saw a
missed call from Jackie - the woman who dropped us last week. Our hearts kind of
stopped haha. We have been praying a lot her heart would be softened and she
would remember the spirit she felt when we were teaching her. The day before we
decided to write her a thank you note and leave it on her door even though she
had said no further contact. She left a message saying thank you for the note
and how much it meant, and how grateful she was for what we had taught. She
said she was still studying on her own and acknowledged she was overly
sensitive about the topic of divorce and trying to work through that. We later
learned from Sister Lyndsey that she wants her children to start playing with
her kids again. I am so grateful for the little promptings to write that note,
and for the Lord answering our prayer. We can see her heart starting to soften.
It was pretty miraculous.
I'm glad everyone seemed to make it back to the US safely.
Thanks for sharing your miracles and answers to prayer with me. I always
love hearing from you!
love,
Sister L
