I've always thought it was a bit lonely in our house, but now I may regret that statement. Kristi and I got a new room roommate this week. Or actually, I think it has probably been much longer than this week, but we didn't know. Let's call him... or her... Beatrice.
I first came aware of beatrice at work yesterday, when I went to go eat a delicious fruit roll up (which by the way has totally revamped and now actually contains fruit!) And noticed nibbling marks. ANd what horrors me is that I almost just ate it anyway! Then I realized that that wasn't too normal since it was packaged in plastic and on our second shelf up in a big box. Ugh. I quickly threw it away and hoped that it was NOT what I suspected. Elyse then gave me one of her fruit roll ups. She is so nice! Working with her is the best!
On with the story. When Kristi and I got home we pulled the box out- bags and bags of chips had been chewed through. Beatrice prefers the normal potato chips and plastic bags apparently. Also torn into: our giant bag of oats, rice and the other large box of lunch snacks. Poor little beatrice must have been so hungry! And is probably now so huge!
That was a lovely experience. And by lovely, I mean Kristi and I were very tense pulling bag after bag out of the box, wondering what we would find in the bottom. But Beatrice is yet to show her pretty little face. And I will be okay if it stays that way. We did find more solid evidence: when Kristi pulled the dresser away from the wall there were several mouse droppings behind it.
Beatrice, our roommate, is making herself at home.
YUCK!!!! Did you know there are moustraps that fully contain the mouse so when it's caught you don't have to look at it? We had a mouse last fall and with "Max" gone all the time I didn't know how to catch it until someone hooked me up with these traps. Put a little peanut butter on the trigger and voila!!! Pretty slick! (Even though I couldn't see the little guy, I still made "Inigo" take the trap out and throw it away.)
ReplyDeleteOh that would be heaven! We have some sticky traps set out, but I always peer into them paranoidly because I don't favor seeing a almost dead mouse much more than seeing a scurrying around live mouse.
