April 24
This
week started out very disappointing with a member we were working with
telling us she had decided to go to a 'bible based religion' although
she has never read the Bible and we always teach her from both the Bible
and the Book of Mormon. She asked that no one from the church contact
her. As we talked to her the spirit taught us two things that majorly
contributed. She had slowly been neglecting keeping the commandments,
and now feels it is easier to go somewhere that won't tell her she is
doing anything wrong or that she can use the atonement. And the second
was that she got involved with Anti. It hurt a lot to see her make that
choice and to wonder why she listened to the Anti poison that her
roommate printed off for her instead of relying on the 10 plus years of
positive experiences and spiritual reaffirmations she has had in the
gospel. But we still love her. It has caused me to re-commit again to
turn always to the scriptures and prophets and to make that a daily
study in my life.
We saw great miracles throughout the week though, including two
great new investigators: a mother and 13 year old daughter who we are
excited about. A member told us about them, and they were so open to us
coming. We will see what happens with them this week! yea! I am always
excited when I get to teach teenagers, because I was 14 when I firmly
got my testimony, and I can't imagine what high school would have been
like without that. I just want these teenagers to have that too!
We had training from the man in charge of historic sites in Salt
Lake come this week. It was really good talking about how we can better
teach the gospel and the history at our sites and visitor center. I
always like being reproved in a loving way :)
Hope you have a great week!
love,
Sister L
