Sister Lovell is doing great
and is an excellent tour guide. We had such a great time visiting with
her and feeling of her strong testimony of the book of Mormon. Mark Driggs, her dad's cousin.
Wow, it was a happy week! It was Stake Conference and I was so happy seeing
those I knew from other areas at Stake Conference. That was a truly joyful
experience. Two of the less actives I worked with in Waterloo were there and
that was the best!
I also found Casey on facebook, the girl who we met at pageant because she
liked the Book of Mormon musical and was baptized in October. She is doing
really well! So happy, and she sent me a message of her testimony and said she
is applying for BYU, and I will get to see her at pageant!
Also I met a lot of people that had a connection this week, including the
Driggs - your cousin dad. I took them on tour and he looked like you and he was
just as much of a tease as you and all your brothers. Wow, it was like taking
Lynn on tour haha. Also, taking Dad's cousin on tour may have made me a little
homesick for his goofy sense of humor :) They were so similar it was awesome. I
thought, 'So this is what it would be like taking dad on tour.' except dad
would have asked more historical details I think. I also took Melanie Schwendiman's uncle on tour - Darwin
Rousch. Fun connections.
The highlight of this week was setting a baptismal date with both Eddy and also
with Justin! The spirit was strong in both lessons, and they said yes, so we
are happy and hopeful that they will be prepared for July 28 {and determined we
will somehow be able to see them during the pageant maddness so we can help
them be prepared} Unfortunately, Kellie wasn't there when we taught Justin, so
we will try to set her baptismal date together, because they will really need
each others support.
This week we went to do service for a woman a less active had suggested. Her
son died a few weeks ago in a car accident, so we stopped by two days to help
her get his stuff ready for liquidation. We found out she is a memeber of the
church and she told us she can't go to church because she has worked on Sundays
for the past 15 years. But then she told us how shocked she was that we had
showed up again twice, because always missionaries would come once and never
come back. She pleaded with us to keep coming back, and I realized how starving
she was for the spirit. She had a visiting teacher a few years ago, that
couldn't come visit her, but would often send her notes and articles in the
mail, but when the boundaries were changed, she was sent to a different ward
and was no longer her visting teacher. Pat {the woman we were helping}
expressed how much she love Carlin, her visitng teacher, even though she had
never met her, and said how much she missed her and those letters that always
seemed to come at the perfect time. I doubt that Carlin ever knew what her
letters mean to Pat. Pat is kind of a rough person when you first meet her. It
is a strong testimony of the importance of visiting teaching. There are people
starving for the spirit.
It was so good to hear from you! Crossing my fingers that Baby lake will come
this week! I love you and am excited to hear about it! Happy Birthday J!
love,
Sister L
Oh! I forgot to mention the transfer
news! So I am staying in Shortsville {yippee!} and Sister Fetuli is going 15
minutes down the road to Marion {just outside Palmyra}. My new Companion is
Sister Larsen from Southern California. I've been trying to decide if I know
anyone more spastic than her, and I've decided that, no. I don't. how fun! :) I
am excited! Welcome pageant transfer!
