A true 24-years-old weekend in Hamburg

This is Jamie Morgan - a friend from my mission who is currently living in Germany. I've been debating how to do justice to my adventures from last weekend... but I decided I can't. So just in small detail - this is my favorite picture from what was intended to be just a day tour of Hamburg with Jamie and which transformed into an all night adventure. The day adventure was lovely, and involved a lot of good food. We also found this cool spice store in the old Warehouse district.

The staying out all night part - well, this isn't abnormal for 24-year-olds in Hamburg, except neither of us drink or are party-ers. It was kind of an accident that we ended up wandering the streets all night. But it was a memory for the books. So no regrets.

When this picture was taken it was about 6 in the morning - after having been up for more than twenty four hours and that beautiful fruit basket came with a free pineapple and kisses from the merchant. We gave the basket our friend who was going to let us sleep in her apartment, but we only ended up sleeping there for about two and a half hours when we arrived there around 7 and then dragged ourselves out of bed at 9:30 to make it to church. She is the cute Chinese girl you can see in the picture with the amazing fruit dessert.

I think Jamie looks pretty great, especially considering the lack of sleep and that we smelled mostly of gross things.

Other things worth mentioning from this experience is that I tried my first doner kebab. It was delicious. It was also at 3 in the morning, which could have contributed to why it tasted so good to me. It should also be noted that it was a benefit to both of us that we looked so frumpy that night as no one even gave us a single look all night.

And at the end of the night it was worth what we had stayed up for: seeing the opening of the fish market and the sun start to rise on the harbor. So pretty.

Spaghetti Eis. Oh the sugar overload. Couldn't finish that.

Shared this kebab at 3 a.m. Then watched Turkish music videos in this shop. Weird things, those videos are.
Fish Market at 5:30

This is how we looked at church, but being at church had never felt so good...
