On the funny farm

Well... it happened. Transfers were today and I am now with Sister Rivera in Waterloo, which means I am living in Fayette at the Peter Whitmer Farm. This is way cool, because:
1. It is in the middle of no where
2. I live on the farm where the church was organized
3. There is a ton of less active work to do in this area
4. I think it might be 10 degrees colder here than any of the surrounding areas
5. We live in the pretty white building next to the Fayette chapel and the Jeffs - senior missionary couple - live in the other part of the house. I really love the Jeffs. They are cowboys - literally. They herd cows for a living in Castledale, Utah.
6. I was able to live down here for a week during pageant and it was really good. I think it prepared me for coming here.

Sister Rivera is nice:) She is from Puerto Rico, she has 6 weeks left on her mission and she is intense. It will be fun to work with her.

I haven't met any of the investigators of less actives yet, but I am excited to get to work. Leaving Pittsford was harder than I thought it was going to be, and I was especially sad because I didn't get to say Goodbye to Liz. We are very worried about her. She wasn't there for our last lesson, which was unusual because she always tells us when she is working late, and when we finally got a hold of her she said she was in buffalo dealing with health concerns. We're not sure what specifically happened, but it's strange to not be teaching her anymore.

Lets see... what else happened? We taught Ed and Norrine and it was the most pivotal lesson we've had with them, because we found out some huge concerns of theirs about baptism. Knowing this will really help the next sisters be able to progress them towards baptism. We also found out that the previous time we had taught, as we were walking away Norrine had a powerful witness that she needed to be baptized, but she is having a hard time holding onto that because of her fears. Wow, it was a neat moment.

Mike and Suzanne are doing really well. Mike is very into researching and he apparently looked up Mormon baptism. We found out he is incredibly frightened of water, so that is very good to know :)

I think that is my Pittsford wrap up. There have been miraculous changes there. What a blessing it was to get to serve there.

I also had a tender mercy Sunday night. A few days earlier I had lost an earring that I really liked. I knew it wasn't a big deal, but I looked for it a lot and when i couldn't find it I prayed that if it was in the house I would be able to find it before I moved. Such a silly thing, but I wanted to find it. That was last Tuesday and I didn't find it. Then on Sunday night I was having a lot of doubts. I felt really inadequate and was wondering if the Lord could even trust me. I prayed to have a reassurance that I was needed. I didn't feel anything, but had the thought to get a flashlight out and look under the dresser. I did and there was my earring. It's so funny to me that such a little thing, the lord helped me find and even more importantly that he used it to help me learn and to answer multiple prayers at once. I am most grateful for a loving heavenly father who expects a lot out of us, but always gives incredibly more.

I got Austin's wedding announcement! cute! How exciting! Tell him congratulations! and Tyler as well. Dad, we had stake conference this past Sunday, and a lot of the talks were about the Addiction recovery program. Do you work with that a lot as the bishop? I thought it was interesting they encouraged so much all members to try to use it as not just helping with overcoming addictions, but with learning to develop Christlike attributes as well.

I'm excited for this coming week and all the changes and exciting wonderful people I am going to meet! I know it will be great! hope yours is as well. Love you all!
love,
Sister L

Looks like my preparation day will continue to be Thursday.
