November 23
Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow! In the spirit of thanksgiving here are some things I am grateful for:
- The restoration. President Christianson let us go to Sister Rivera's cousin's wedding, which was happening in Palmyra, because their isn't a temple in Puerto Rico and she has a cousin living here. I had never seen a live sealing and I was amazed at how strong the spirit was. It helped me remember again the beautiful joy that comes with the gospel and what importance heavenly father places on eternal families. I am so grateful for the restoration that made all this possible. And temples are amazing.
- Serving in waterloo. These are good people. I am thankful I get to serve the less actives in the ward. It feels like serving in Ririe for multiple reasons. 1. It's small 2. Lots of people farm 3. We live in the middle of nowhere 4. It eternally smells like cow poop {this doesn't necessarily remind me of Ririe} 5. We get to drive a TRUCK! fun! 6. I live with a bunch of crazies who are loud and fun like my Lovell cousins.
- Miracle of finding 3 new investigators this week! Two are former investigators - a cute mom and 12 year old daughter. The 12 year old has the sweetest heart and she loves learning from the sisters. She is the one that wanted to set up appointments with us again.
- Sister Rivera. Good practical missionary. I love her. And her extremely loud voice :) She also has a cute accent and says really funny accidental things at dinner appointments that bring us both joy. And we did the salsa this morning for exercise. She taught me, but I wasn't very good.
- My Roommates. Sister Meister {from Australia} is insane in the best way. Sister Rivera, her and I are very loud together. Poor sister White {from Washington} has only been out 2 months and thinks we are insane. It is a fun place to be on the funny farm. Apparently being here makes you go crazy. And the accents seem to make everything funnier. The language barrier in our house is hilarious.
- Getting to be a missionary in the New York Rochester mission. Best place to be. A year ago on Thanksgiving was when I decided to serve a mission, and it was the best decision I have made in a long time. Being a missionary is an experience like no other! I love it. It's wonderful, awkward, frustrating, hard, hilarious and shocking all in one day.
- That I let Sister Meister cut my hair and I only found very few random chunks that got missed.
- My cuddledud long underwear. Thank you for sending that. It is the love of my life right now.
- It has only snowed a skiff. It is cold, but not painfully cold yet and I am so so so so grateful.
- President and Sister Christianson. They are so wise and practical. They have been pushing us the past few months to have much more faith and be more obediant. They do it with such love that they help me want to change even more. It's great.
Things seem to be good in our area. I am still getting used to the changes and meeting the people, but there is obviously a lot of wonderful work that has been done and a lot that needs to be done. Have a happy happy thanksgiving!
love,
Sister L
p.s. Have I told you lately that I think you are the greatest family? Well... I think you are the greatest family! So glad I have you!
